Introduction

 

Hi, my name is Micah. I am majoring in journalism and I am especially interested in photojournalism. I'm one of the staff members for the Commuter, LBCC's news publication. Outside of class I enjoy doing photography, going to see live music, and working on hobbies such as making chainmail. 

I am hoping that the class News Reporting and Writing will give me a stronger foundation to my reporting skills. I struggle with the interview process and would like to become more confident in my interviewing skills. Another goal I have is learning how to structure the answers I get from interviews and how to fit them into an article. I also struggle with my time management and would like to learn skills to help with that. 

My first story for this class will focus on the new electric vehicle technician program that will be starting fall 2025. I will be meeting with Mike Leblanc at the ATTC to interview him about the program. I also plane to reach out to other instructors such as James Wiger and finding some students who are open to being interviewed.

Some of the questions I will be asking are

When is this program starting?

Who is running the program?

Is there a large interest in this program?

Is this a stand alone program, or part of a larger program? 

Can anyone take the course or is it just for the automotive students

I am excited for this story and the possibility of encouraging more students to enroll in the program.
