My Town

Avery Park in Corvallis Oregon is home to many well known fixtures in the community. From the large dinosaur bones, to the rose garden that host dozens of varieties of roses. But possibly the most impressive is the Georgia Pacific #5, a train engine that has been on display at Avery Park since 1960. The train engine was originally built in 1922 by Baldwin Locomotive Works and was in use until the year 1959 when it was abandoned. The next year it was gifted to the city of Corvallis. It has been on display in Avery Park since and is well maintained by the city as a local landmark.

Walking down First street in Corvallis Oregon you have a beautiful view of the river as well as multiple sculptures made by local artists. On Saturdays you can enjoy the local farmers market, filled with dozens of local businesses. Beyond the farmers and bakers at the market you will also find a variety of musicians playing music for the enjoyment of the market goers. One of these musicians is James Gore, a Corvallis local who plays his guitar at the market every Saturday. James has been playing guitar for almost a decade. He enjoys playing at the market and describes it as his own "little Mardi Gras."

Kenzie B Valentine performs drag at Common Fields the first Friday of every month. Along with guest performers, they put on a show to be remembered. The venue is outdoors so if it is raining there is a chance you will get wet. But that does not stop these Queens. They are just as memorable rain or shine. The next show is June 7th and starts at 8:30 PM. This show will feature a Jez Blossoms, a contortionist!
